Intro text

Water management is highly complex but crucial for the development of the country. Mistakes are expensive and can cost lives.

The Decision Support System (DSS) provides analytical tools to discover and communicate meaningful patterns in hydrological data to support the design of adequate strategies for water management.

DSS - Explained

What is DSS
DSS stands for Decision Support System.
It is a set of modeling programmes married to physical attributes of the water bodies
DSS is used in water resources management.

DSS Objective
DSS allows to tap into all available data and help to organize it so it can run different scenarios used in water resources planning and management
By testing and seeing different scenarios it is possible to chose the best one.

DSS Benefits
Risk reduction
Bad decisions are expensive
Good decisions help to improve service delivery, help to make sound investments, reduces conflict and improve disaster management
Wide impact , holistic, money

DSS in India

The DSS has been implemented and customized in all nine participating states.
As there is a shared system all the training, capacity building and system maintenance is being optimalised
